Higher Ed Worship Degrees
A unique conservatory design-program where students will participate in a worship band every week.
Our goal is to educate and equip tomorrow's Worship Leaders for their work: to humbly but joyfully lead the body of believers in passionate expression of adoration to God through consuming worship. We believe that God's calling for the Worship Leader does not reflect a certain musical style and/or a certain age category but rather the heart cry of all believers to enter into His gates with thanksgiving and into His courts with praise. Understanding and interpreting this divine calling through the lens of cultural diversity and divergent theological expressions is the core of all activities and experiences at the National Praise and Worship Institute.
Whether you just graduated from high school or are a transfer student, your journey with NPWI starts here!
In one year at NPWI, you can earn a one-year certificate, which also counts as an institutional minor. This a great option for students who want to receive solid training and mentoring and become a well-rounded musician. Students learn to sing and play at least 1-2 instruments at a proficient level. Students receive intense conservatory-apporach training and the benefits of working with a band, the highly-recognized choir, and the the training by some of the best in the industry.
Students have the option of completing the two-year advanced certificate, which includes a seven-week mission experience where they become the band for a church. Studies also include training focused on preparing them for this internship.
Students can choose to earn an Associate of Arts Degree in Praise and Worship by completing an additional 24 hours of Gen Ed. Students can take some of these courses while doing NPWI. Students can also transfer into another discipline, including, but not limited to Worship Arts or Commercial Music.
In the fall semester of the second year at NPWI, we will advise students based on their skills and readiness if they should consider the employment field. We will give an honest assessment with options to advise the student regarding the next step in his/her career. Students who have demonstrated solid skills and successful completion of NPWI will be connected to Slingshot to find the best employment option.
